Meet Your Instructor, Yogi Aaron and the styles of yoga he teaches
Yogi Aaron is the owner, operator, and lead yoga facilitator at Blue Osa. During his 30 years of study, Yogi Aaron has developed an intrinsic understanding of yogic philosophy, anatomy, and the subtle body. He has studied under yogic masters such as Alan Finger, Bryan Kest, Genny Kapuler, Rod Stryker, Swami Rama, and David Swenson, among others.
Throughout his journey, Aaron has made several pilgrimages to the Himalayas, where he sought a deeper understanding of the Vedic tradition and Tantric pathways. These experiences blessed him with the opportunity to mentor under several spiritual masters and inspired him to create a yogic community in the lush Costa Rican jungle. Creator of Applied Yoga Anatomy + Muscle Activation™ Yogi Aaron brings three decades worth of study, mentorship, and experience into his teachings, with a strong emphasis on yoga therapy and alignment.
Yogi Aaron’s sense of humor, contagious laugh, courageous and adventurous spirit, and his own healing journey of overcoming pain and discovering and living his true life’s purpose makes him a stand-out and favored leading yoga teacher today.
Yogi Aaron’s style of yoga and the YTT methodology has been influenced by the Himalayan Tradition of Yoga, which combines the wisdom of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and teachings passed down from a long history of yoga masters. We include a number of lineages such as Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Kundalini.
Our holistic approach to teaching embodies the belief of “Function Over Form.”
Yoga is for everybody and we have created a teacher training that focuses on the individual. We provide you with the tools to confidently teach both private and group classes.
With the inclusion of Applied Yoga Anatomy and Muscle Activation™, you will have a signature experience focusing on muscle activation techniques and yoga therapy to benefit you and your future students.
Do I get the bonus AYAMA™ certification? (Applied Yoga Anatomy + Muscle Activation™)
In addition to the ancient and authentic yogic teachings that you receive and experience during Blue Osa’s Yoga Teacher Training, you will also learn the exclusive Applied Yoga Anatomy + Muscle Activation™ (AYAMA™) methodology.
AYAMA™ was created by Blue Osa’s founder and master yoga teacher, Yogi Aaron. AYAMA™ is not only a revolutionary way to practice yoga but to embody and deeply understand anatomy while alleviating pain in the body.
This EXPERIENTIAL and TRANSFORMATIVE form of yoga anatomy training will come ALIVE in your body. And! this HEALING technique will teach you how to get rid of pain!
You can’t learn AYAMA™ anywhere else.
You should be aware that most Yoga Teacher Trainings do not offer this level of experiential and comprehensive anatomy instruction.
You will leave our training with a somatic understanding of your body and the ability to apply these teachings directly to your life and yoga practice.
AYAMA™ teaches you how to guide yoga classes safely, ensuring you do not injure your students or cause, aggravate, or exacerbate any pain they may have.
Become AYAMA™ certified and help others to live a pain-free life!
Why is this training 28 days and not shorter and cheaper while there are so many others to chose from?
Today, you can find so many shorter and cheaper yoga teacher training immersions. One of our renowned competitors in Costa Rica is offering a 14-day immersion that is a little less than what we currently charge for 28-days.
Wait!!! But I want to do a 14-day training at Blue Osa. Do you offer one?
Blue Osa is now offering a 14-day Yoga Teacher Training Immersion.
While we think that the best option is for people to invest 28 days of their life into an immersion that will truly transform them at every level, we have had too many requests to offer this in the past.
If you do decide to do a 14-day immersion, with us or elsewhere, remember that the experience will NOT be the same as giving a month to this practice.

Also Included: continued support after your training
Also included in the yoga teacher training at Blue Osa is access to our Online Resource Library and the Self-Study Modules, which are a unique element of Blue Osa’s Yoga Teacher Training that sets it apart from other programs available today. Previous students have found it extremely valuable in developing their teaching once back home.
The Self-Study portion includes:
• 6 months of FREE access to the resource library.
• Ability to prepare in advance of your training if you wish (access is given prior to your training start date)
• Post-immersion support as you continue to study, learn, absorb, and embody the training content while completing all required assignments. This feature makes it possible for students to relax, explore, and enjoy the wild nature of Blue Osa outside of scheduled classroom time during their immersion (rather than filling free time with reading, studying, and completing required homework).
• Access to an entire resource library of yoga content to propel your practice and teaching forward, including yoga classes, meditations, workshops, and specialty courses like ‘How to Sell Out Your Yoga Retreats’ and ‘Business and Marketing for Yoga Teachers’.
Additionally, after the training, we offer ongoing support and communication with participants to ensure they leave Blue Osa as a safe, confident yoga instructor at NO additional charge.
When are the book reports and assignments due?
In order to be presented with your 200 or 300-hr YTT certificate, you must complete the required reading and reports. These reports will be due three months following the completion of your immersion.
For example, if you completed your immersion on November 16th, your book reports would be due the following February 16th.
You’ll have plenty of time to work on your reports throughout the immersion or you have the option of completing the required texts prior to beginning the course. Once you’ve successfully registered, we’ll send you out the required reading material and you can decide for yourself when you’d like to get working.
Why is this immersion so affordable?
Blue Osa was created with the intention of bringing yoga to as many people as possible and Yogi Aaron believes in welcoming anyone who is ready to experience total transformation to come join him in his little slice of paradise.
These immersions include:
• all your meals
• your lodging
• the fees for your yoga teacher training
• instruction from a master yoga leader and trainer
• continued support for as long as you wish after your training ends
• your teacher training Yoga Alliance-approved certificate
The power of a yoga immersion cannot be overstated.
When it’s combined with a supportive community, ocean waves, tropical birds, healthy food, and room to breathe, there can be no greater impact on a person’s life. And when we are all living our best life, fully aligned with our path, we stand to make a greater difference in the world.
It has been this philosophy that has inspired Aaron to offer such affordable pricing, and it continues to drive him to share his wisdom with his students.
What are the rooms like? Where will I sleep?
We have a saying here in Costa Rica: Pura Vida. It means full life – and at Blue Osa, we aim to give our guests just that. Each of our rooms and bungalows is uniquely designed to deliver on comfort, convenience and relaxation. Whether it’s heightened ocean views, a serene garden setting or a spacious beachfront bungalow, at Blue Osa you’ll find purpose-built, jungle-chic rooms that create the ideal setting for a tranquil, restorative yoga teacher training. If you are registering for the triple occupancy option, please expect to be sleeping in a king, queen, full or twin bed. And if you are registering for a single room, we will be following up to request an additional $1000 deposit.
How do I get to Blue Osa? When do the immersions begin and finish?
Getting here is simple and straightforward! Head on over to www.blueosa.com/how-to-get-here for all the details.
Immersions begin on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and commence on the final Friday evening. This will allow for the option of a Saturday morning departure.
We recommend arriving in Costa Rica one or two days prior to starting the immersion and would suggest arriving in Puerto Jimenez on Friday evening so as to settle into the space and enjoy your first sunrise on the beach.
Please note that should you miss hours for any reason, you will be required to make up the time prior to receiving your certification.
