This retreat will allow you to explore the ancient philosophy and practices of yoga as a way to heal and transform your life. Through yoga, meditation, breathwork, and a variety of experiential activities, you will tap into your inner wisdom to connect with your true self and positively progress on your life path. This mindful experience will allow you to heal on emotional, mental, and physical levels by combining highly qualified instructors, the comforts of home, and organic, farm-to-table meals, all within a stunning, natural ocean and rainforest setting. This retreat will include many opportunities to immerse ourselves in the beauty, abundant wildlife, and outdoor adventures in the area. Through a connection with self and others, you will leave feeling renewed, recharged, and restored. No prior yoga experience is necessary and all body types and yoga levels are welcome.
Healing From Within Instructors
As a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider and Yoga Teacher, John is on the faculty of the 21st Yoga School, a Yoga Alliance certified institution that offers training to become a certified yoga instructor. He has also served on the faculty of Inbody Academy. There he offered a specialized course in their teacher training program called “The Psychology of Yoga.” He offered training for those wishing to use the yoga practice, its history, and philosophy as a mode of treatment and healing. He developed a strategic way of combining western therapeutic technique and eastern yogic philosophy as a way to assist individuals empower themselves. John guided his students by using their intuition and yoga training to connect with individual yoga students – becoming a vessel for encouragement, empathy, stability, and growth.
John started his own business, mbody in 2008 and currently offers Yoga Therapy, Thai Yoga Therapy, Nutrition Coaching, Personal Training, Private and Group Yoga Lessons, Workshops, and Retreats. He even started a men’s yoga clothing line in 2010 (mbody.com). John authored a book entitled “Yoga With Intention: A Yogic Journey from Awareness to Honoring” in 2016. It is available on Amazon.
John’s philosophy is this: through the power of the yoga practice, become in tuned with your inner strength and potential. Practice yoga to find enlightenment; become connected to your still, silent, and quiet inner being, and gain a greater awareness of Self.
Lisa is a Licensed Psychologist with over twenty years of experience working with a range of people a variety of settings. Since her post-doctoral fellowship training, Lisa has worked on the Adult Substance Abuse Treatment Team at Cornerstone Counseling Center, as the Coordinator of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Education Center at the University of Utah providing treatment and prevention services, and at the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Clinic in the Medical School of the University of Utah. She has also taught as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Educational Psychology Department of the University of Utah, and as an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at Westminster College. She has been in private practice in Salt Lake City for the past twelve years and specializes in trauma and addictions work.
Lisa began practicing yoga over ten years ago and as a result of its healing and transformational nature was inspired to bring yoga into her work as a psychologist. She completed the 1000-Hour Yoga Teacher Certiﬁcation Training Program at Centered City Yoga in Salt Lake City in 2013.
Lisa’s therapeutic philosophy and approach is that people are the experts on themselves and that her job is to provide a safe environment in which to facilitate personal exploration, growth, and healing. She helps people to develop a variety of practices order to increase well-being in their lives and is honored to be a part of their journey. Lisa encourages people to ground and center themselves in the present, to deepen their connections to themselves and others, and to tap into their inner wisdom to more fully share their unique gifts and authentic selves with the world.

5:00 Coffee and natural teas

8:00-9:30 Yoga asana practice and meditation
9:30-4:00 FREE TIME
4:00-5:30 Yoga practice and meditation
What’s Included in this Yoga Retreat
- 8-days and 7-nights of eco-friendly accommodations at a premier Costa Rican Eco Resort
- Miles of secluded jungle beach front along which to walk, run, surf or swim
- Delicious farm-to-table meals and a snack each day, using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, and fresh bread baked daily. Daytime meals are primarily vegetarian, while evening meals may include meat or fish.
