Embodiment Costa Rica Yoga Retreat with Ahmed Soliman
March 21 - March 28$1850
Explore yourself, learn your capacities, discover your capabilities.
Let’s escape the winter to a jungle beach paradise, with an experienced registered yoga teacher (ERYT) and wildlife biologist as your guide. This is a chance to dive deep and understand your body, your heart, exploring beyond the physical heart, your soul, and yourself. A chance to understand how, through the practice of yoga, you can master yourself.
This week-long immersion is for yogis at every level — the experienced yogi looking to deepen the practice; the beginner yogi looking for a teacher to breakdown myths and make the practice accessible; and the newly-trained teacher seeking a well of understanding to offer students.
Ahmed, with his 2nd consecutive year returning to Blue Osa, combining his yoga teaching experience with his wildlife biology background, will bring Blue Osa’s natural wonder into vivid relevance for the yoga practice. At its core, yoga is about balance. Through the study of fragile ecosystems, He learned quickly that balance is essential for any community — human or wild. At beautiful Blue Osa, set within the incomparable natural rainforest, join him on an adventure through the balance of our bodies, our minds, and our natural world, as we explore the thread that connects it all.
Your Yoga Teacher
As a yoga teacher, I am deeply influenced by the personal journey that brought me to the yoga practice.
I began my professional life as a wildlife biologist and environmental scientist. Serving the natural environment and helping to recover endangered species was my way of giving to a greater good. This is a concept that I carry daily into my yogic lifestyle, both in teaching and in practice, seeking to serve my communities in a way that supports strength, healing, and sustainability. I also bring my science background to my students through yoga retreats in locations that provide the incomparable forces of nature as a backdrop to our yoga journeys. My retreats incorporate hikes through nature, identifications of rare species, and meditations on the privileges and responsibilities of living in a world that will go on for millennia past our natural lives.
I am equally influenced by a key life event that brought me most directly to the practice of yoga. After a serious car accident requiring multiple knee surgeries demanded that I transition away from a lifetime passion of participating in contact sports like soccer, I found myself drawn to the safer, deeper, and more sustainable practice of yoga. From this experience, I developed a keen interest in human anatomy as a guide to offer a safe and grounded space for my students, endeavoring to help them explore their physical boundaries with a focus on intelligent alignment, awareness of breath, and a steadying relaxation of the mind. Rather than merely sequence asanas, I seek for every student to emerge from practice with me with a deeper understanding of his or her own body. In class, I often say “as you are.” I say it in a wide variety of contexts, but at its core, it means that whatever physical or emotional energy you bring to practice on any given day, let’s work with that together. With this gentle, self-acceptance, an awareness of breath, an understanding of the body, and some mental focus, we can find harmony both on and off the mat.
I am a continuing student of Iyengar yoga, vinyasa, and meditation and have studied with Nikki Costello, Nikki Vilella, Magi Pierce, and other influential teachers. I am an ERYT-200 hour yoga alliance certified teacher with additional specialized trainings in anatomy, meditation, and yoga nidra.

Ahmed’s retreats create magic! He inspires through gentle example and his learned expertise deepens the experience. HIs retreats blend a gorgeous location and delicious healthy food with yoga and meditation specially tailored for the group. But best, he creates an environment that is inspiring for yogis of all levels – fun but focused, challenging but safe, exploratory but nurturing. The vibe draws out the unique personalities of the participants while unifying and bonding the group. I came away a better yogi, more conscious and committed, but also with new friends that I will keep for life
After working with Ahmed for over a year, I cannot say enough about what learning with him has done for my practice. He has the wisdom of an old man and the physical energy of a young man. As a teacher, his eagle eyes keep me honest but his gentle nature makes me trust him to push me. I trust him with my practice in a way that I’ve never trusted a teacher and that trust has paid great dividends.
“I had a wonderful time on a Yoga retreat last winter (2018) with Ahmed. Truly it was a magical experience: great classes, 2 a day looking over the Pacific Ocean, guided meditations filled with calming-wisdom, delicious food, excellent camaraderie. All in all nourishment for mind, body and soul”
