Meet Your Teachers For This Two-Week 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

14-Day 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Yogi Aaron is a Master Teacher and the author of Autobiography of a Naked Yogi. He has been a student of yoga since 1991 and a teacher since 1997, studying with Alan Finger, Bryan Kest, Genny Kapuler, Rod Stryker, Swami Rama and David Swenson in yoga ashrams and retreat centers around the world. Aaron has made pilgrimages seeking to understand the Vedic tradition and Tantric path and studied closely with numerous spiritual masters during his treks throughout the Himalaya Mountains. His experience leading workshops around the world inspired him to open a retreat and cultivate an intimate yoga community in Costa Rica — and so the Blue Osa Yoga Retreat and Spa was born.

Blue Osa welcomes 800 yogis per year and is the setting for Yogi Aaron’s fully accredited series of One-Month Immersion Teacher Trainings. As a teacher, his ultimate goal is to provide a space for people to fully realize the possibilities of their own limitless potential. Over the years, Aaron has helped countless students and seekers use yoga to fine-tune their senses, call forth their best selves, discover their life purposes, and experience the sublime, divine flow within each of us.

14-Day 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Danni Pomplun says that Yoga is a metaphor for life. An accomplished and sought after yoga teacher from San Francisco, he is a 500-hr Registered Yoga Instructor, and a member of the teacher training faculty at Yoga Tree.

“We all have our own stories. Mine has some twists and turns through a tough childhood and young adult years blurred by frustration, drugs, alcohol, and a near-death brush with cancer, and I credit yoga with helping me to become healthy and opening my eyes to a world of positive opportunities. I’m truly grateful to now be able to share what I’ve learned with others, whether it’s on the mat in my home base of San Francisco, in another location for an immersion or workshop, or through my online yoga platform.

My students resonate with my functional, down-to-earth approach and my ability to combine the mentally restorative aspects of yoga with the functional physical work that it entails. I am grateful to work alongside my teachers and mentors Jason Crandell & Darren Main, who have helped influence my teaching style.”

Check Out what Past Students Have to Say:

  • “Blue Osa itself was amazing – from the scarlet macaws to the beach to Marie’s great cooking. But the best part was working with Aaron and the student teachers. When I went to Blue Osa for teacher training in 2011, my intent was to teach a class or two, substitute teach and grow my practice. From these experiences I now teach more, create new practices and continue to learn and grow more than I could have imagined. I now have my own studio and continue to be more passionate about yoga every day.”

    Denny Los Angeles, CA
  • “Through Yogi Aaron, yoga teacher training has helped me not only become a good teacher, but helped me grow into my most authentic self! If you’re serious about your yoga practice, whether you want to teach or not, I highly recommend you take teacher training! It’s very transformative. You’ll thank me when you’re done!”

    Hollis New York, NY
  • “We all learned so much from our training…I certainly did. Aaron, thanks for being an impetus for huge changes in my life. I couldn’t have had the strength without you and everyone there at Blue Osa.”

    Cory New York, NY
  • “I completed the Blue Osa Costa Rica Yoga Teacher Training in November 2011. I can state that the course, taught exclusively by Yogi Aaron, had a strong emphasis on academics–including the scientific and philosophical foundations of hatha yoga. The reading list was comprehensive and included text reading assignments and handouts. Daily physical practice included varying types of meditation, asana and pranayama. If you are considering this training, be assured you will have challenging assignments to complete and ample opportunity for hands-on teaching to fellow students as well as guests of Blue Osa with varying levels of experience. You will also have the opportunity to teach to students with specific health concerns/challenges.

I very much enjoyed being taught by Aaron for many reasons but most importantly, even though participating with other students, he taught to me as an individual–focusing specifically and working with me on exactly where I was at in my life as a student. In terms of the physical surroundings, Blue Osa is a paradise. The vision that Blue Osa has manifested in the tiny country of Costa Rica is to be deeply respected. The guest accommodations are beautiful and comfortable–allowing your body adequate rest, recovery and relaxation during the course. The staff were completely devoted to us as students and never hesitated to provide upon any request that I had. Without reserve or hesitation I endorse the Blue Osa Costa Rica Yoga Teacher Training.”

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

While we think that the best option is for people to invest 28 days of their life into an immersion that will truly transform them at every level, we have had too many requests to make this 14-day option available in the past.

We believe that One-Month is required to completely transform at every level, not every person is able to make that kind of commitment.

Our intention in offering this 14-day immersion is to make this practice to as many people as we possibly can.

Our 28-day immersions focus on helping you to fully understand yourself at ever level and to gain greater clarity around your life’s ultimate purpose.

The 14-day immersion was designed to give you access to a foundational practice in yoga and to give you the basic tools to teach a class.

While hatha yoga is at the core of what we do, we differentiate ourselves by offering a holistic approach to yoga that emphasizes function over form. We believe yoga should be tailored to the individual, and that a good yoga teacher knows how to facilitate a unique practice to meet unique needs. The Blue Osa YTT methodology has been influenced by multiple traditions, including Vinyasa, Iyengar and Anusara yogas.

Yogi Aaron has spent a considerable amount of time in India and has been taught directly from the Himalayn Tradition.
Aaron also has a strong background in yoga therapy and brings in therapeutic elements when appropriate.

You will have met the qualifications for becoming a 200-hr RYT and 300-hr RYT respectively upon program completion of Blue Osa’s One-Month Immersion Yoga Teacher Training + 14-day Yoga Teacher Training programs. You may choose to submit yourself for recognition if you wish.

As a national credentialing organization for the yoga community, Yoga Alliance® provides a set of educational Standards for yoga schools that specify hours or study in certain educational categories.

Yoga Alliance® is recognized around the world as the authority in setting these yoga standards and your certificate will enable you to be able to teach anywhere it is required.

The Blue Osa 200-hr RYT, 300-hr RYT or 500-hr RYT Teacher Training program is a foundational yoga teacher training program recognized by the Yoga Alliance.

Our 300-hour teacher training programs are for yoga instructors who have previously completed a 200-hour certification with Blue Osa or another school. Once you have completed the 300-hour program, you’re eligible for a 500-hour RYT certification through the Yoga Alliance.

The Blue Osa 500-hour training program is intended for students who have not yet taken a 200-hour program and are interested in obtaining a 500 RYT certification through the Yoga Alliance.

Very few people ever take the opportunity to fully immerse in a yoga practice. Through experience, Yogi Aaron has experienced and see that a concentrated, intensive experience like this offers profound rewards. You accelerate the pace of your learnings and gain both spiritual insight and spiritual momentum. An immersion like this takes you on a deeper journey within yourself. Aaron is a skilled practitioner and teacher who has mastered the art of guiding students on the journey inward and each of these immersion trainings offers a fresh and often new glimpse into the deeper dimensions of yoga.
The Blue Osa One-Month Immersion Yoga Teacher Training takes you on a journey of deep yogic practice to cultivate a direct experience of these teachings. We see too many teachers teaching practices in the world who do not have this experience and giving practices the have no direct knowledge of. The One-Month Immersion at Blue Osa will not only deepen your meaning and experience of yoga, but will give you the opportunity to practice for one month practices you have only ever heard about but never had the time or freedom to do.
Absolutely! If you feel called to do this immersion again, do come back. You will be thrilled with how much more you are able to learn and receive when you return to audit an immersion. Even better: we offer a discount to those who wish to repeat a program.
The book reports need to be completed in order for us to award you the 200 hours Yoga Teacher Certification and 300 hours Yoga Teacher Certification.

The book reports are due 3 months after the end of the One-Month Immersion. For example, if the completion of the One-Month Immersion is November 16, then the book reports will be due the following February 16.

In addition to the 3 months following the One-Month Immersion, you are given a lot of time during the immersion to also complete your book reports.

You may also complete the book reports prior the the beginning of the immersion, or anytime during the immersion. Basically, you may complete the book reports the moment you register for this immersion.

Instructions for the book reports are given ONCE you have registered and not before.

Each of our yoga students each come with unique goals. Some want to get their yoga certificate to teach yoga. Others want to answer deep and meaningful questions about their life. And still, others want to live a more meaningful life through yoga.

Yogi Aaron’s approach to teaching yoga teachers is based on the principle that wisdom and knowledge are acquired through direct experience. When you participate in the Blue Osa Prana Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica, you give yourself the gift of space and intention. Fully immersing yourself in yoga for one month allows you to use yoga to ask and answer profound questions and discover what yoga can mean in your life.

We warmly welcome students of any and all backgrounds. The only commitment required is that you are willing to show up and fully participate.

Absolutely. Even if you are relatively new to yoga, these yoga teacher trainings are an excellent way to learn the art of yoga and cultivate a strong foundation for your life-long practice. One of the strengths of our approach to yoga is how adaptable it is to the student. No matter where you are, there is a practice for you. And frankly, some of the best teachers are the ones who can’t contort their bodies into pretzel shapes. Their limitations end up being an asset to their students.
NO you will NOT hold the class back. We will ALWAYS encourage you to do only what you are comfortable doing and to practice within the limitations of your own body.

Yoga is a personal practice. The first “value” we practice in yoga is non-harming.

Yogi Aaron’s background is in yoga therapy. Therefore he teaches all of his classes to be therapeutic and healing. He is also very skillful at helping those with less mobile bodies to adjust their practice.

Yes, we will spend time discussing the logistics of developing your own business as a yoga teacher. Subjects to be discussed include how to find your first customers, how much to charge, where to teach and best practices for growing your business. As a former NYC yoga studio owner and as current co-owner of Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa, Aaron has a wealth of knowledge available in this area, and will kindly field questions.
You’d love to join an immersion at Blue Osa, but not sure which one is right for you? Please email us right away and let us know:
1.What about our immersion got your attention?
2.What do you hope to receive from this immersive experience?
3.What are your goals once you leave the immersion?
Once we understand a little more about you, Yogi Aaron can help guide you into the perfect training for you.
